To submit in Moodle submit a maximum of THREE documents into the WRIT2 submission point. Name and upload your files as follows:

1. Part A – Label
2. Part B – Nutritics Report
3. Part C – Written Submission

Part A – Construction of legally-compliant label (2400 word equivalent – 80% of marks allocated).

You are provided with a product specification for a frozen pizza produced by a small
start up company. From this specification create a legally compliant label which will allow the product to be sold in the UK.

Your final submission for Part A should consist of 3 sides of work which should be submitted as a SINGLE PDF document. I have given you a Powerpoint template to use but you are free to use an alternative template

1. Label front – construct this from the information given to you on side 1
2. Label back – construct this from the information given to you on side 2
3. List of legislation and guidance used in constructing your label on side 3

Notes:
 You must make your label from the information given to you. You must not copy a label from some where else
 The information that is given on the spec may not comply with legal requirements – you need to research to establish legality remember it is a start-up company and may not be familiar with legal requirements
 Where you discover information that is not legally compliant you need to change it so that your final label complies
 Ingredients may NOT be changed from the recipe given (Pizzas have already been
produced and frozen)
 Use the stated brands/ specifications where appropriate.
 Use Nutritics to calculate the mandatory nutrition information (see Part B). Cardiff
Met students have free access to Nutritics your lecturer will provide you with information on how to join in Week 17)
 Assume date of production to be 1 st September 2022
 Precautionary allergen labelling requirements may be established by looking up ingredients online as directed and in the ingredient specifications provided
 Your label should contain an appropriate image of the finished product.

Part B – Your Report downloaded from Nutritics (0% marks allocated but you will not pass if you do not include your report).

Once you have constructed your pizza recipe in Nutritics using the information provided you must download the report. This will evidence that you have produced the product label yourself. It must include the ingredients from the specifications provided and must have your name on it.

Click on the tab called EXPORT TO and select REPORT (example given). Download and save the report with your name e.g. GinnieWinterNutriticsReport.pdf

Part C – Written submission – Justification to the company in respect of THREE pieces of information on the label (600 word +/- 10%. 20% of marks allocated).

Look at the following THREE pieces of information on your label and justify to the company why you have presented the information in the way that you have done.

1. The name of the product proposed by the FBO
2. Marketing information proposed by the FBO
3. Health claims proposed by the FBO

You may have decided that the information given to you on the specification in these areas does not comply with legal requirements or that they are legally compliant

In each case you should refer to the exact section of the legislation and any guidance to justify your decision.

The purpose of this is to demonstrate a deep under standing of the legislation but remember that the information given should be very clearly written for the start-up company as it is unlikely to have any labelling expertise within it.

Please do not write general information regarding labelling as there are no marks available for this. Your three short discussions need to relate precisely to the three areas indicated

Work should be type written and presented in 12 point font and 1.5 line spacing. Do not include your name at any point on your work since it will be blind marked. Harvard style referencing should be used throughout. Appropriate use of appendices is permissible words included in an appendix and footnotes do not form part of the overall word count).

Legislation that you refer to should be in placed in a List of legislation referred to at the start of your work and the abbreviation chosen to refer to the piece of legislation shown e.g.
