What am I required to do in this assignment?
Report:
For this assignment you are required to complete a 2500 word qualitative research report. This report will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to conduct, analyse and report a qualitative study on a specific topic area. The topic area an additional information required to write this report will be included in the assessment 2 folder in Assessment and Feedback on BREO.

Reflection:
Throughout this unit you will be expected to undertake research participation amounting to a total of 4 hours. You will take part in this
research using a system called SONA which will track your participation and award you credits, you require a total of 240 credits. During the research participation you should take note of your experiences and write a 500-word reflection about your experiences.

Should you wish to not participate in any research, you should complete a 1500 word essay in the place of the 4 hours of participation and 500 word reflection. The essay question will be posted in BREO in the assessment 2 folder.

ATTENDANCE TO LECTURES AND TUTORIALS IS ESSENTIAL
Failure to attend may result in your missing crucial information meaning you cannot complete this assessment. The information, data collection, analysis, and support of the writeup all take place in tutorials. Certain aspects of the data collection cannot be easily repeated without taking up considerable amounts of tutor/lecturer time so you must attend.

  • Use information literacy skills to identify relevant and credible sources of information relating to quantitative and qualitative studies from recognised databases that can be summarised, synthesised and incorporated into the reporting of your empirical investigations.
  • Produce a detailed empirical report using APA report guidelines, following the BPS ethical guidelines, using given quantitative and qualitative methods and analysis that are used in contemporary psychology.
  • Generate and analyse data using SPSS and qualitative approaches and relate analytical findings to previous research and theories.
  • Evaluate research methodologies from a participant’s perspective by participating in research within the School of Psychology
  • Reflect on ethics, best practices and professional standards in psychological research based on your experience as a participant.
