Scenario :- For this assignment assume that you are an independent sustainability consultant. Your client is Universal Group plc a property developer which plans to build low-cost housing on a site recently cleared of buildings. Universal is a forward thinking company and they have asked you to advise them on innovative and sustainable methods of construction for this project.

You do not have to assume this site is in the UK, it could be anywhere in the world. However you must tell us where it is and the nature of the climate in that region. State these assumptions early in your presentation.
Task :-
Provide a presentation with commentary notes about an innovation that could help minimise the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere over the lifetime of the building as a result of installing the ground works and substructure.
Your chosen innovation could be a building material, a component or a complete element.
Your presentation should:
• identify and explain your chosen innovation;
• critically assess key issues relating to the following:
o innovation
o sustainability
o environmental impact;
• critically discuss whether your chosen innovation will be an improvement over more traditional methods of construction;
• provide a conclusion that critically appraises the benefits the chosen innovation can bring to this project in particular and to the construction industry in general
• provide appropriate references.
Your presentation should:
• have one slide for a cover/title page with the number of words used stated
• have between six and eight content slides;
• include one or more slides for references;
• use images, tables, charts and/or graphs throughout where appropriate to convey information;
• keep most of your text in the commentary notes, not on the slides;
• include your assumptions early on.
Appendices must not be used and a contents page executive summary and abstract are also not required.
Please check that the commentary notes for each slide are visible before you submit the assignment as a PDF or Word file to Turnitin.
Reference list :-
You should include a reference list with a minimum of 10 separate relevant and appropriate sources that you have written about and cited within your work. The source of any images you have used should be cited on the slides and included in this list but they do not count towards the minimum of 10 sources
A bibliography of uncited sources is not required.

You will have provided a clear and concise presentation that explains how your chosen innovation could be used to help achieve the objective stated in the Task see above. You will address some of the sustainability issues and suggest what value your chosen item brings to the project and to the construction industry in general.
Your presentation will describe an innovative method of construction. You will identify a number of the benefits and possibly challenges of your chosen innovation when compared to more traditional methods.
Good
You will have met the criteria for Threshold and have produced a visually effective presentation that clearly appraises the sustainable issues and competently argues the rationale for your chosen item.
Your presentation will be articulate and will evaluate how the chosen item is innovative. There will be some critical discussion of sustainable and innovative features compared to more traditional construction this may be supported by a table comparing the two.

You will have met the criteria for Good and produced a visually excellent presentation that fully and competently articulates and appraises the sustainable issues and justifies the rationale for your chosen item.
Your presentation will be professional and will describe explain and systematically evaluate how the chosen item is innovative. There will be a fully competent critical discussion of sustainable and innovative features compared to more traditional construction.
